Idolatry

Exodus 20:3-6 defines idolatry as:

3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
 4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
 5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
 6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
According to lds.org study by topic it says: If we place any person or thing above the love of God, we worship that thing or person. This is called idolatry.
I bring up idolatry because of an interesting thing that I learned in institute last week. This was a very hard thing but needed thing for me to learn.
So she brought up the fact that idolatry is placing something above God. She said that fighting against and not following God's will is a form of idolatry. You are placing yourself and your desires and your idea of what is best above God's will for you.
Something to contemplate.
