Alma 1

I was reading the 1st chapter of Alma this morning and the stark contrast between those that were prospering inside the Church and those that were prospering outside the Church stood out to me more than ever.

Inside the Church
- All were equal in learning the word
- Everyone labored according to their strength
- They did impart of their substance to the poor, needy, sick, and afflicted
- They did not wear costly apparel but were neat and comely
- Abundance of everything they were in need of

Outside the Church
- Sorceries
- Idolatry or idleness
- Babblings (gossip)
- Envyings and strife
- Wearing costly apparel
- Lifted up in the pride of their own eyes
- Persecutions, lyings, thieving, etc.

Where do you stand?

Things I learned at Church today

Today I renewed my temple recommend which is an amazingly reflective time. I was able to think about the things I believe that the things I struggle with. When I was meeting with the member of the Stake Presidency he talked to me about a lot of things. It was amazing. One thing that he talked about that I feel comfortable sharing on here is this: my future children (and yours if anyone is reading this) know me and they know who my future husband is. I can ask them for help in finding him and directing me. When I go to the temple I get to spend a few hours with them. Also, he mentioned how when I get sealed through my future husband we are getting sealed to our future children as well. How amazing is that!!

Another thing that I read today that really stood out to me is in a pamphlet I have called "Let Virtue Garnish Thy Thoughts." It said that there is NO WAY that darkness can overcome light. Light always prevails. That is so encouraging to know that if I fill my life with LIGHT (or the Spirit of the Lord) there can be no DARKNESS. Darkness only prevails if we let the light diminish.
